Classic Communications has joined with Nutriquine NV, a world leader in equine nutrition, to promote the launch of CAVALOR Inc., a company dedicated to marketing the CAVALOR brand and CAVALOR products, such as their feed and nutritional supplements, in North America.


Old Salem Farm

Old Salem FarmClassic Communications has overall responsibility for public relations for Old Salem Farm and its annual Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows. Old Salem Farm is a newly renovated facility located one hour north of New York City in the charming town of North Salem, NY, in the heart of Westchester County. The “new” Old Salem Farm boasts its historic pristine grass Grand Prix field as well as three all-weather outdoor rings. In addition to its year-long horse show series that includes 20 horse shows in addition to its flagship spring horse shows, it maintains luxury stabling facilities for year-round boarding, and offers training for all levels as well as horses for sale and lease.


United States Equestrian Team

United States Equestrian TeamIn 1990, Classic Communications was hired to oversee public relations and advertising duties for the United States Equestrian Team (USET) a position it held until the USET became the USET Foundation in 2004. Classic had overall responsibility for the Team’s media and promotional programs, including the development of media strategy, crisis management and coordination of all activities designed to promote the Team’s interests. Classic produced the Team’s collateral materials including its member publication, USET News. Classic President Marty Bauman served as the Team’s official media spokesman and was also the U.S. Olympic Committee’s equestrian press officer at three Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000).


National Disability Sports Alliance

National Disability Sports AllianceFor several years, Classic handled media relations for the National Disability Sports Alliance (NDSA), a community-based organization member of the U. S. Olympic Committee and a member of the International Paralympic Committee providing athletic competition opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities. On behalf of NDSA, Classic oversaw all media relations and publicity activities including the writing and distribution of press releases, ongoing liaison with trade publications, and the production and distribution of NDSA’s monthly electronic newsletter.


National Sports Festival, New London, Connecticut

National Sports FestivalClassic was also responsible for media relations for the National Sports Festival, the nation’s largest annual competition for athletes with physical disabilities that was selected by the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CP-ISRA) to host more than 1000 athletes from 40-plus countries in the 2005 CP-ISRA World Championships. Classic conducted a public relations campaign to generate advance publicity in local and disability media and provided on-site media management as well as generating follow-up media coverage.


FEI World Cup Finals, Las Vegas, Nevada

FEI World Cup FinalsClassic Communications has been responsible for media and public relations for the last seven equestrian jumping World Cup Finals held in the United States—1989 in Tampa, 1992 in Del Mar and 2000, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 in Las Vegas. In 2005 for the first time, the FEI World Cup Finals featured international championships in two equestrian disciplines, show jumping and dressage. Classic coordinated national and international promotion of the event including managing advance publicity, media credentialing, on-site management of nearly 200 journalists from the U.S. and abroad, and follow-up reporting. Beyond this, Classic also assisted with marketing the event to potential sponsors, advertisers and vendors, and also managed the event’s Vendor Village.


Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Conventions (CERC)

Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Conventions (CERC)Classic coordinated media activities for the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Conventions (CERC), a non-profit organization promoting environmental best practices for large conventions that started with the 2004 Democratic and Republican national conventions in Boston and New York. Classic actively solicited media coverage through press releases, aggressive media liaison and press conferences. CERC received extensive media coverage surrounding its efforts connected with the two conventions, not only in Boston and New York, but also in major media across the country and internationally as well.


Hampton Classic Horse Show

Hampton Classic Horse ShowThe Hampton Classic Horse Show holds a unique place in the world of equestrian sports and on the social calendar of Long Island’s renowned Hamptons. Classic was first hired to oversee the event’s media relations in 1992 and since that time has played a key role in its growth. The public relations campaign for the eight day horse show expands awareness of the event, promotes the horse show’s impressive line-up of sponsors and stimulates spectator attendance. Classic hosts more than 100 attending media each year and its advance publicity, on-site media relations and follow-up reporting efforts have helped generate millions of print media impressions through placements in such significant media as the New York Times, People, Conde Nast Traveler, W, In Style, Gourmet, Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, New York Daily News, and New York Post.


Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

Rolex Kentucky Three-Day EventThe Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event ranks among the world’s premier equestrian competitions. As one of only four events in the world designated as four-star events by the International Equestrian Federation, it attracts worldwide attention.  Since 1998, Classic has coordinated the event’s media activities including writing and distributing press releases, coordinating credentialing, managing its world-class media center for the 150 credentialed media in attendance and working with the international television broadcast crews that have produced telecasts for NBC, ESPN, OLN, ESPN International and EuroSport.


World Equestrian Games, Lexington, KY

World Equestrian GamesClassic Communications was selected to oversee media services and operations for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the quadrennial event featuring World Championships in eight equestrian sports that was being held in the U.S. for the first time. Classic planned media services for the approximately 1,200 media representatives from around the world and oversaw media operations throughout the 16-day competition at the Kentucky Horse Park.


Tourism Cares

In 2010, Classic was hired to assist with public relations and media outreach for Tourism Cares, the non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the travel experience for future generations. In addition to generating media publicity through press releases, Classic also coordinated on-site media coverage of the charity’s annual Tourism Cares for America Volunteer Day, which brought 250 tourism industry volunteers together for a day of service on the National Mall in Washington, DC.


In Addition

Over the years, Classic Communications has also represented a variety of other interests including running an anti-theft campaign for the Rhode Island Cable Television Operators Association, the national launch of the syndicated television series Learning The Ropes starring Lyle Alzado, media relations for the Northeast Region of the Jewish Theological Seminary, and national publicity for the 1985 Nabisco Mayor’s Cup cycling series.  Classic also handled press operations for the 1983 campaign of Boston mayoral candidate Lawrence S. DiCara.
